summer make up tutorial and first impressions.

Earlier this week i created a smokey summery look. I have been very inspired to do one, especially in some peach tones. I got to use some of my new products and i will do a review on them soon 🙂

I started out with a cleansed face and moisturizer. Since i had already applied make up earlier that day, i decided to keep my brows. I used the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow pomade in blonde. Processed with VSCO with e4 preset

Processed with VSCO with presetI started with the Urban Decay Optical Illusion complexion primer. I applied it with my fingers. Afterwards i moved on to my foundation, i used the Urban Decay All Nighter foundation in 0.5. I expected a very high coverage and a long lasting foundation. I found the foundation to be more of a full coverage than any other foundation I’ve tried, but i could still  see some of redness shining trough. Another thing i noticed was that without primer the foundation was easily worn off, and it oxidized.   Processed with VSCO with e4 preset

Processed with VSCO with e4 presetI applied the medium dark color around my temples, on the upper part of my for head and along my jawline and cheekbones. Then i added a darker contour shade on my nose and on my cheekbones. I also applied green color correction in my cheeks and on the lower part of my forehead. I also applied yellow and pink color correction under my eyes and some purple on my cheeks and other parts of my face where my complexion Processed with VSCO with e4 preset2017-05-21 08.16.36 1.jpgAfter blending the contour i added an other layer of foundation.Processed with VSCO with e4 preset2017-05-21 08.16.34 2.jpgAfter applying the second layer of foundation, i went over with some powder contour from Smashbox.

20170503_201857_006Used the colors from Colourpop´s Phase me out value set. I applied the color Going Rouge all over my lid as a base. I used the One by One shadow on the lower part of the lid, and then to create a “smokey” i used flipper.  The last color i applied along my lash line was Itty Bitty.

For lips i used the Ultra Satin Lip form Colourpop in the shade Echo Park.

Shopping in Oslo

On saturday i and my boyfriend went to Oslo. We went mainly to do some shopping, and I was a bit disappointed because I didn’t buy that much.

The first thing I bought were some makeup from Urban Decay. I bought the all nighter foundation and the optical illusion primer. I bought the foundation in the shade 0.5 (foundationprimer). I will do a rewiev on this some time in the future. I also bought the “eau de roma” tonerwater from Lush as well.

I also wanted to try a setting spray, and I have heard great things about the one from NYX, so I figured I would give it a try.

I also visited Zara and because it was SO crowded I only bought one dress. It was a blue and white striped dress with straps.  (You can find it here).

I also bought a blue pair of shorts. I bought the shorts at Monki and you can find similair here

Smashbox review

Recently i have been testing out some Smashbox products. I have been testing their studio skin foundation, the green photo finish color correcting primer and the smaller contour palette.

i have had the products for a while and thought i´d share my opinions on the products with you.  Before i get into the review, i´ll share what the products are claiming to do.DSC_8628

It instantly blurs fine lines and pores, while its green-toned formula color-corrects redness, leaving your skin with the perfect canvas for makeup application.”

Since i am an dancer i was able to put the products to the ultimate test during our spring show. I applied my makeup at 11 a.m since the last rehersals started a couple hours later.

The foundation is claiming to be a medium to full coverage, but personally i feel like its more of a medium coverage. The ability to cover imperfections are important to me since i struggle with acne. Though that being said it did not break me out, and it didn’t look oily even after both practice and show. It also stays on a long period of time, but i don’t know wether this is because of the foundation or the primer.

The color correcting primer made it a lot easier to apply the foundation, which applies very smoothly over the primer. I didn’t  feel like the primer color corrected much, at least not as much as i would have expected.

The contour palette was a bit difficult to blend out, but the colors were beautiful. The bronzer and contour shade dint have much of a red tone which i really like. Since I’m very pale the red toned bronzers look a bit muddy on me. After all i really liked the products!

The makeup lasted the whole day trough till i removed around 12 a.m. During the day the makeup became a bit cakey in the areas around my nose, which i expected since i was wearing a lot of products and this area is a bit problematic for me.  But after all i had an good experience with the products and they stayed on until i removed it.

The beginner makeup kit

In this post I will tell you about some great products to start out with if you are new to makeup. All of the makeup is cruelty free, which is extremely important to me.

My personal favorite primer is the color correcting primer from smashbox. I use the primer on a daily basis. What primer basically does is that it prepare the face for product. It can make your pores appear smaller, it makes products as foundation and concealer last longer, and it can work as a color correcting base.

You can follow this link for smashbox’ primer finder, if you are unsure of which primer to choose. I apply the primer all over my face with my hands.

My favorite foundation at the moment is the Isadora Cushion foundation in the shade nude porcelain. It has a lightweight and smooth finish, and it’s not caky. It also comes with an sponge which wow actually good. It also does a fantastic job on blemishes and spots. You can find it here.

Personally I prefer the Anastasia Beverly Hills eyebrow pomade. I have the pomade in blonde, and apply product in light strokes. I use an angled flat brush. There is also different kinds of products for the brows, for example powder or pencils. You just have to try different things and  figure out what works for you.

A good eyeshadow is a good investment if you want to build your makeup collection. There are so many pretty palettes out there! If you don’t want to spend a lot of money on eyeshadow I would recommend buying a palette which has some natural colors for an everyday use, and some sparkly and bright colors for a night out. A great palette is the tartlette in bloom (here), it has sparkling and darker colors, but it can be a little expensive. Another great palette is the ablaze smashbox palette, which is on top of my wishlist at the moment. The smashbox is also 17$ cheaper (Here).

Bronzer, blush, highlighter

One important thing to remember about bronzer, especially if you have a lighter skin, is the color of it. If you use a bronzer which is too dark you will end up with a dirty looking shade. I apply the bronzer with a bigger and fluffy brush for a natural glow. I prefere the urban decay illuminatior, which also comes with a brush.(Here)

My favorite blush is the hot mama blush from the balm. The blush has a natural look and a easy build up. I normally just use bronzer or just use a blush for the more natural look, I think the result looks a bit to “overdone ” when I apply both at once.  You can find it Here.

The Mary-Lou manizer is my favorite highlighter! It’s easy to build up, and the result doesn’t look caky, which I belive is a big problem with a lot of highlighters! I apply the highlighter with an small but fluffy brush to the bridge of my nose and on top of my cheekbone. I don’t like the look of too much highlighter. Just as the bronzer, this is a product you need to have a little patience with and you’ll get the hang of it. (Here)

If you want to save money on highlighter, bronzer and blush, I wold reccomend a palette with all three of them in one. For example the urban decay flushed palette. I have never tested it, but I would totally like to! (Here)

A good powder will help you set your makeup and the final result will be smoother. I really like the compact powder from Isadora, and I apply it with a big fluffy brush. You can find the powder here.

Mascara is the one thing to complete the entire look, and a good mascara is crucial! I love the better than sex mascara from too face. It gives lengt and volume, you will be amazed. You can find it here.
